For the first time in like 4 years(?), I spent Halloween in Manila as opposed to the past where I would spent it in Boracay with A, mixing business with pleasure.
I was looking forward to spending the supposedly long holiday with my family and A because Halloween IS ALWAYS fun and I wanted A to experience Halloween with us. Unfortunately, because Madam President did not declared Oct 31- Nov 2 a long holiday, I had to go to work on the 31st. Knowing that I'll get out of work at 730pm, I knew that even if I tried racing to Alabang to be with my family, the party would be done and they would be ready to come home. So instead, I made plans to play poker with friends. How did I do? Let's just say that I'm psyched that in all rounds, I wasn't in the bottom half. And at one point, A and I decided to split the pot instead of going heads up against each other. The night ended at 4am and I was heads up against Irene. No one was raising and we were just checking. Our blinds reached 400/ 800 already! It was actually tiring with the game lasting that long. I lost though and was so relieved when the game was over.
Anyway, imagine my surprise when I got a call from my mom at 315am asking me if I was going home any time soon because they didn't have keys to the house. My family was going home at 3am?! Apparently, everyone had a blast. My cousin had his classmates from college over and partied with my uncle and aunt. My other aunts, mom and sister did karaoke. My dad's cousin arrived and hung out with them.
Here are pictures from Halloween. From what I heard, the kids went as ninjas while the adults decided on the last minute to go retro:

Go-go Dancers!
Auntie Eileen, my sis Ara, Auntie Liza, Auntie Tanya and mom

The cig was a perfect prop and completed this picture.
My aunt doesn't smoke cuz she's a breast cancer survivor.

Blast from the Past
My grandfather and his friend

Groovy ni Manang!
Manang Curling, my aunt's cook
I think that next year, we're going as the Brady Bunch.
